.Mant Bares

is a writer from Cajun Louisiana, now based in southern Australia.

She holds an MFA in fiction from the University of Michigan. Mant’s fiction has appeared in Beloit Fiction Journal, Porter House Review, and Fugue. Her nonfiction has appeared in Washington Square Review.

Her poetry, found under the name Samantha Bares, has most recently appeared in Guesthouse.

Mant has been awarded the Frederick Busch Prize in Fiction and Porter House Review Editor's Prize in Fiction, judged by Carmen Maria Machado. Her work has been supported by the Sewanee Writers' Conference and the Elizabeth George Foundation.
